A N N U A L R E S E A R C H & E D U C AT I O N C O N F E R E N C E ARE SPEAKERS Dr. Firas Al Badarin, MD, is a Staff Physician within the Cardiovascular Medicine Department of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Al Badarin was an Invasive Cardiologist at Prairie Heart Institute of Southern Illinois. Dr. Al Badarin received his medical degree from the University of Jordan in Amman, Jordan and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Henry Ford Hospital/ Wayne State University, Detroit, MI, USA. Afterwards, he completed his training in General Cardiology and Cardiac Imaging at the University of Missouri, Kansas City/ Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute, Kansas City, MO, USA. He also completed a Cardiovascular Outcomes Research fellowship and received a master's degree in Clinical Bioinformatics/Clinical Research Focus from the School of Medicine, Department of Health and Bioinformatics, University of Missouri, Kansas City, Kansas City, MO, USA. During his training, Dr. Al Badarin developed special interest in various non-invasive imaging modalities, especially radionuclide cardiac imaging (also known as, nuclear cardiology), including Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Cardiac Computed Tomographic Angiography (CCTA). He also became particularly passionate about understanding how different imaging technologies can be used to improve the efficiency of care for patients suspected to have coronary artery disease. He has published several peer-reviewed articles on how information from non-invasive imaging can be used to optimize outcomes and quality of life for patients. Dr. Al Badarin resides in Abu Dhabi with his wife and two boys. He enjoys spending time with his family on activities, including swimming, playing soccer and biking. During his free time, he likes to play tennis and read books on self-improvement and meteorology. Cardiologist Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, UAE Dr. Firas Al Badarin Dr. Haifa Al Awadhi is a Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Tawam Hospital, UAE, and serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University. She completed her MBBS at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University in 2007, followed by board certifications in General Paediatrics from the Saudi Board (2013) and the Arab Board (2014). She then pursued subspecialty fellowship training in Paediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, Riyadh, completed in 2017. Dr. Al Awadhi further advanced her academic qualifications with a Master’s degree in Organ Donation and Transplantation from the University of Barcelona, Spain (2019), and a Master’s degree in Healthcare Management from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (2022). She is an active member of several professional societies, including the Emirates Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Group (EmPGHAN), the Saudi Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (SASPGHAN), and the Saudi Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and Transplantation (SASLT). She has also been a member of Tawam Hospital’s Organ Donation Committee since 2019. Her clinical and academic interests focus on paediatric liver transplantation, supported by advanced training exposure across leading international centres in Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Spain, Japan, and Canada. She has contributed to multiple publications in the field of paediatric gastroenterology and hepatology, with a strong focus on advancing clinical care, research, and transplantation medicine.
